Singing Teacher

Remuneration

In the region of £25 per hour.

The Role

YMES is seeking to appoint a Singing Teacher to teach lessons for one of our clients. There is likely to be 2 hours’ work per week available in the first instance, at a secondary school in Leeds. It is intended that the successful candidate will build hours up over time.

It is intended that these lessons will take place in-person at the school. YMES does however have a successful online lesson format that may be re-introduced depending on the course of pandemic. Applicants must be open to in-person delivery as our default format, and also prepared to teach online if/when required.

The Organisation

YMES is an independent music education service. We work with partner schools across Yorkshire to deliver inspirational curriculum lessons, instrumental lessons, vocal lessons and ensembles. Our fundamental belief is that all pupils should receive a first class music education and we work with schools to achieve this vision as their specialist adviser and provider.

The Ideal Candidate

Passionate about inspiring students of all ages and backgrounds through excellent teaching and learning, you will either have some prior experience of teaching music in a formal setting or be a strong graduate with an understanding of what good teaching looks like. The successful candidate will be comfortable teaching across all genres and have a good understanding of vocal training fundamentals – ideally as a first-study vocalist. Basic piano accompaniment skills are not essential but would be considered advantageous.

The Process

To apply, please send your CV to newteachers@ymes.org.uk. Unfortunately we are not able to reply to all candidates. The closing date for applications is 4 June 2021. Interviews are anticipated to take place on or around 10 June 2021. Start date is September 2021.
